The First Week After Quitting Smoking |
The first week is regarded as the hardest part of quitting smoking. Most people don’t make it past the first week (the first three days being when most people relapse). Once you’ve made it past the first week, though, everything starts to get a lot easier.
Just so you’re prepared, here’s a list of what to expect during your first week:
- Feeling like you can have ”just one” cigarette. You might want to reward yourself for going so far (it sounds crazy, but it happens) by having just one cigarette. Aside from how you’ll be smoking as a reward for not smoking, nobody ever has just one cigarette. Don’t fall into this trap.
- Feelings of regret over quitting. Part of quitting is your mind letting go of cigarettes. You’ll probably feel like you’re going to miss cigarettes, and that your life won’t be the same without them. This is a part of your mental addiction to tobacco (more on that later).
- Irritability. You’re going to be a pain in the butt. Make sure people know that, and know not to hold it against you.
- Arguing with yourself about it. This is a fun one to look forward to. If you start off by quitting without dealing with your mental addiction to it, you’re going to sit there and try to reason yourself into having a cigarette.
Right now, as a smoker, your mind is convinced that you absolutely need cigarettes. You need them to keep calm, you need them to deal with stress. Quitting while still thinking this is like denying yourself food: eventually, you’re going to cave in.
Luckily, there’s a way to rid yourself of your mind’s ties with cigarettes. With the EasyQuit System you’ll discover how to know, from the moment you put down your last cigarette, that you are a non-smoker, free from the nasty urges and stinky habits associated with cigarettes. You don’t want them in your life any longer, and this is the key do removing it once and for all!
